Instead of focusing his athletes training on squatting, deadlifting, Olympic lifting and jumping Leo prepares his athlete’s body’s thoroughly before building that bigger engine with them.
Leo has a unique skillset with the breathwork he uses. It has made a huge difference to the lad’s fitness and recovery whilst allowing us to focus on the technical aspects of the game. His breathing techniques for game-day preparation and during games themselves are work incredibly well to re-energise players and focus them.

I first met Leo back in 2017 when he approached me with the idea to run the Dublin marathon, that was all ok until he told me his plan was to run it with his mouth tapped shut, nasal breathing only, no run training just functional S&C and his breathing techniques. I have to say there and then I thought he was mad and told him out straight I didn’t think he would do it but I would be more than willing to try and help him get there. Well was I proved wrong, when I met him in person it was plain to see the knowledge and belief he had in his methods that there was no way he was not going to do. Leo has a deep understanding in the science behind what he does and is living proof just how powerful it can be, he is a great coach who is commited to improving the health of his clients and overall good guy who I thoroughly enjoy working alongside.

Leo’s breathwork has made a significant difference to my athletic performance. Following months of application the breathwork really started to show improvements in my recovery times after intense bouts of exercise. Following a long term injury, Leo’s overall training approach gave me a great platform and foundation for returning to full fitness and I couldn’t recommend him enough.
I was able to finish out the season so strong and probably had the best season I had in the last 6/7 years.
When Leo Ryan came on board as our strength and conditioning coach for St. Sylvesters and tried to introduce a new way of training through breathing, I thought he was half mad. Little did I know the difference it would make to me in the long run. From a personal point, I have suffered massively with injuries over the last 3 years and always struggled to keep my cardiovascular up to a certain level. This method and way of coaching was the only reason I was able to finish out the season so strong and probably had the best season I had in the last 6/7 years. When you breathe properly, your muscles relax and much of the physical tension they hold is released. This is only one of many benefits. This helped me massively for two reasons. 1. This is exactly what I needed with all the injuries I have suffered and 2. The breathing technique helped me gain cardiovascular fitness far quicker than the what I had previously been doing. Leo's way of coaching was strict, sharp and to the point. No messing and thats what exactly has prolonged my career to date. Thanks Leo.

I worked with Leo for a number of years and found the experience challenging, but very rewarding. Leo's training techniques were unique, innovative and highly effective. Leo introduced me to a number of breathing methods and techniques which I found to be very challenging at first, but which have helped improve performance over time. Particularly, I find the breathing techniques highly effective in aiding recovery. Leo's techniques have also helped me breath more effectively in everyday life, through better awareness of my breath. I have used techniques taught by Leo while playing Senior Football and training for a marathon and found them to be effective in improving aerobic fitness and aiding recovery between efforts.

Having been diagnosed with Asthma and Allergies since I was very young but I've always been very active and into sports, most recently competitive sprinting.
When I saw the course advertised I was keen to learn more. I wasn't disappointed.
It became quickly obvious that not only does Leo have a deep knowledge the breathing techniques but also a thorough understanding of physiology, strength and conditioning training and sports science which allows him to coach the subject in a very clear and personal manner.
I have to say that this is one of the best things I have ever tried and has had a large positive impact to my life and health on many levels including both a reduction in my symptoms and a greater capacity for endurance training. I'm looking forward to learning more!

I genuinely do not think anyone else could have got me out of the hole I was in
I went to Leo as a busted up athlete who had no hope of ever achieving the strength I once had. I had a 2 year QL injury that no physio, MRI or amount rest was able to fix. I wasn't sleeping well, couldn't sit for long periods and was very weak in all lifts.
Leo asked me to give him 7 months and trust his approach that was quite a drastic change for someone who has over-trained for many years, but I did: Leo quickly highlighted that while I wasn't mentally stressed, I was physically.
Though introducing good stresses, prehab and breathing techniques my sleep quickly improved, as did my health in general -I got a lot of comments on how fresh I looked and relaxed I was.
Leo's programming is very well thought out and specific to the individual and their goals - I have trained with a lot of top level PTs all over the world and it is very rare to find someone who constently comes back to your goals while also ensuring health is intact.
Combining the above with technique corrections in my major lifts and introducing a key focus on breathing, I am now back to where I was strength wise and stronger than I ever was throughout the whole movement in my lifts. Leo has given me tools that I can use forever, the focus on breathing and contraction he taught while lifting is something that has had the most benefit and will ensure I stay injury free long term. The technique corrections were things I'd never been taught to focus on before, even though I have been lifting weights and working with PTs for 15 years - they also had a big pay off.
I genuinely do not think anyone else could have got me out of the hole I was in, drastic measures were needed and it was drastic measures that worked.

Leo is a very dedicated trainer. He pays great attention to detail across all aspects of fitness, from diet and nutrition to strength and conditioning to cardio. He ensures all exercises are done safely and achieve maximum efficiency. He is always at the forefront of training techniques and nowhere is this more in evidence than in his approach to breathwork. For me personally his coaching in this area really helped in pre-game preparations as I found I no longer required the notorious “second wind” but was ready to go from the off.

I can honestly say the best decision we made with the whole world record attempt was bringing Leo on board. When you want to break a record a lot of people think it's impossible and laugh at the suggestion. When I approached Leo I was blown away by his energy, passion and support for our attempt. While I approached him about helping us with nutrition and training, the breath work made key difference. Through the 60 hours we used it several times to help us re group relax and fire ahead towards the goal.
Since completing the record I'm giving a lot of talks in the corporate sphere. I use the breath work exercises before these talks to help me get in the right mindset to perform. I would recommend everyone learns these simple techniques and I look forward to working with Leo on other "crazy projects" in the future.

When I began training with Leo I was overweight and under motivated to do something about it. Not being able to run up a stairs, play footie with my young son, and all the other little things that required a bit of physical effort.
Leo helped me change my outlook by first realising what I wanted. Then setting the goals and putting together a programme of exercise and nutrition that suited me. What began as a challenge became a way of life and a very enjoyable one at that. I am off medication for blood pressure and cholesterol that my doctor said I would be on for life!
